Whole30 Day 5: My Guts Are Revolting

Its Friday. Thank You God, it’s Friday. I am ready for a day of leisure and this week needs to be over. I realize how absurd that sounds considering I set my own schedule and had extra time off this week. But I am tired. While giving up caffeine isn’t necessary to the program, giving up the way I consumed caffeine is. So here we are. Caffeine deprived and ready for a day of rest.

My first appointment cancelled, and I am not going to lie and say I was heartbroken. I don’t love starting work early. I also don’t love working late. My ideal working hours are like 10 a.m. to 2 or 3 p.m. Please don’t judge me. The work day was scheduled relatively easy, but thirty minutes before the end of the last massage, my stomach started rumbling. That’s pretty normal honestly. Our bodies make noises when hungry or when digesting food. That’s how it started, digestion noises, but it quickly turned into a stomach upset noise. Thankfully it wasn’t a situation straight from a massage therapists nightmare, just a little uncomfortable. I finished my client and breathed a huge sigh of relief.

I got home in time to throw a pork tenderloin and broccoli into the oven and dinner was ready as Jared got home from work. After dinner my stomach started acting up AGAIN. Lord have mercy. Jared said I couldn’t have anymore applesauce. I argued that I didn’t know that it was the fault of the applesauce. It was probably a combination of a lot more fiber than my body was accustomed to, more healthy fat, and  NO cheese. I refuse to give up applesauce with cinnamon. It is my one true treat when I am eating like this.

So lets address it. Snacking is forbidden on the whole30. Instead of having a snack you should have a mini meal, a combination of protein, carbs and fat. Here’s the thing, I don’t care. When I did this the first time I followed the protocol perfectly, The second time I also followed it perfectly. I understand the reasoning behind the rule. I also think I am enough rounds in that this has to be more about my lifestyle off of a round. Do I think I could do without snacking at night? Yes, but I also know that I love me a Salted Caramel Yasso. I haven’t even thought of those since starting the program. Once I am able to have them again, I will (as long as they don’t cause me any digestive issues).

Even though tomorrow is the weekend for me, Jared has to work. It’s bedtime. Good night!
