Whole30 Day 9: The Other Side?

After falling asleep pretty early last night, I woke up equally as early. I stayed in bed until almost 8 a.m. I sang the good morning song to sir Buddy and we were up for the day. I think it’s important to note that I woke up starving. So much so that at about 6:30 a.m. I rolled over and whispered ‘I’m staaaaarveeeeeeng” to my husband. We had a good laugh about it.

Once we were out of bed, I heated up a couple turkey burgers from yesterday while I scrambled some eggs mixed with leftover peppers and onions from our salad bowls. Yummmm. When you are eating whole30, you learn that meal “rules” go out the window. Yes you can have a side of broccoli with your eggs. Yes you can have eggs for dinner. Whatever works to fuel you and keep you healthy.

It's Tuesday, which means we have a training session. Our regular trainer is still out hiking somewhere in a forest, so we had a fill in. Tyler decided we were going to do a HIIT workout. I haven’t done a HIIT workout in a very long time. Fun twist, he worked out with me. We did a game of war, loser had to do exercises while the winner held a position. First game we held planks, second was wall sits, and third game was a glute bridge. Each round there were four different exercises. The exercise the loser performed was decided by the suit of the winners card. After holding a plank long enough, honestly you want to lose so you can do something else. The wall sit by far was the worst round. At one point in the third round I ended up losing on a war and I ended up doing forty-eight pushups. The whole thing was hard, BUT IT FELT GOOD!

After the session, I was off to work. I only had one appointment today and then I was back at home ready to take the Buddy on a walk. Jared was not down to go very far, so we made it a mile and then came back home.

I told Jared that we needed to go to The Grainery so I could see what sauces were available to me there. It’s nice to know how far in advance I need to order my Primal Kitchen sauces if I can’t just pop into the store to buy them. They only really had the ketchup that I like, so when it comes down to needing BBQ sauce I will have to order. It does occur to me that I didn’t look in the cooler section to see if they had any over there. There’s always next time.

DISCLAIMER! We did something that is not Whole30 approved, but as I stated previously this is about making this my lifestyle so I am customizing this for me. I showed Jared a couple snacks that have all compliant ingredients. I grabbed a couple Epic jerky bars, garlic stuffed olives, and a bag of avocado oil plain potato chips. AND I DON’T REGRET IT. There was no sugar or chemicals in any of it. We just needed a break from the norm, and some damn CRUNCH! Nothing about eating those chips makes me want to binge eat potato chips on the other side of this.

Both Jared and I agree, we have totally reached the other side of the withdrawals. Everything is clearer and we feel like we are running on cleaner energy.

For dinner we had beef roast with potatoes topped with a little clarified butter. Honestly, this is how we eat normally. The only thing we did was remove those chemical ridden snacks, dairy, and those toxic drink packets I became addicted to. Now it’s time to settle in, watch a little TV and get ready for another great night of sleep.

Oh yeah, and today is the first day that my pants felt looser. Win, win!
